February was the second best month for the online gaming market in Italy, with € 351.2 million in gross spending, just below the record set in December 2020.
Although the land-based betting points are still closed due to the Covid-19 emergency, online sports betting recorded a total turnover of 185.5 million euros in the month, which represented more than half of the total gross online spending. The increase on a monthly basis, compared to last January, is 4,6% while the increase is even 94.8% compared to February 2020, the last month before the land gaming points were closed due to the pandemic. In online betting there has been an increase of 29.4% since last January. The six major operators are confirmed Bet365, PlanetWin365, Snai, Eurobet, Goldbet and Sisal with over 10% of the online betting market each. In the online casino sector, however, revenues fell by 12.3% on a monthly basis, but increased by 83.1% on an annual basis, reaching 143.0 million euros. Pokerstars, while confirming itself as the first operator in terms of spending in casino games, with a market share of 10.43%, compared to the previous month suffered the most consistent decline among the main operators in the sector (-0.61%). Contrary to this, Sisal and Snai grew, with a market share of 9.51% and 7.86% respectively, an improvement on the performance of January. In the top ten operators with the largest market share we also find Lottomatica (7.58%), Eurobet (6.15%), Planetwin365 (5.41%), Goldbet (4.60%) and Betsson (4.10%) ) and, in particular, E-Play24, which improves the results of January 2021 by 0.11% with a market share of 2.70%. Good performance also for NewGioco, which rose by 0.27% on the previous month, with a market share of 1.01%, BetFlag (2.15% market share and + 0.20% on the previous month), LeoVegas (2.47% and + 0.20%) Betaland (0.71%) and Replatz (0.70%).
